With consumer consent, the "Search Marketplace" and "Start application" features allow you to search the Marketplace for existing subsidy applications, and bring them into your HealthSherpa Dashboard to service. You can also use these features to start a new subsidy application for consumers who may need to do so (e.g. move to a new state).

Using "Search Marketplace" and "Start application"
First, select either the "Search Marketplace" or "Start application" link at the top of your dashboard:
You will land on the following search page:
With consumer consent, you may search for a consumer's existing subsidy application by keying in their information, checking the box indicating you have received consent to work on the consumer's behalf, and selecting the "Search the Marketplace" button.
Claiming an existing application
If the consumer has any existing applications with Healthcare.gov, search results similar to these will populate:
Click the "Add to clients" or "Apply" button to bring the desired application into your HealthSherpa Clients dashboard. While bringing an application into your Clients dashboard does not impact the NPN associated with the application, bringing the application into your Clients dashboard is otherwise known as "claiming" the application.
Deciding which application to claim into your Clients dashboard
If multiple applications are returned, consider basing your selection on the below hierarchy, prioritizing statuses at the top of the list.
Complete, enrolled
Submitted, enrollment pending
The application with the most recent “Last modified” date for the below statuses:
Submitted, no enrollment
Submitted, enrollment is termed/canceled
Complete, no QHP eligibility
Complete, limited plan availability
In progress
Avoiding duplicates in your Clients list
In the event that you search & claim a client who already appears in your "Clients" page, you are able to update the application and view it instead of creating a duplicate by selecting the "View in Dash" button.
You may need to refresh your search & claim to an existing Client's application to refresh your EDE sync to the application ensuring you have the most up to date information (e.g. payment statuses, document statuses, premium amounts) in your HealthSherpa dashboard. Starting a new application
If the consumer has any existing applications with Healthcare.gov, search results similar to this will populate prompting you to create a new application for the consumer:
Before creating a new application, we recommend using the “search by SSN” function to be certain your consumer doesn’t have any existing applications with Healthcare.gov.
