Accessing 1095-A forms

Agents can access 1095-A forms through the HealthSherpa dashboard

Agents can retrieve 1095-A forms for clients directly through the HealthSherpa dashboard. This applies to clients enrolled using HealthSherpa and, in some cases, clients enrolled outside of HealthSherpa.

Accessing 1095-A forms for clients enrolled using HealthSherpa

From the HealthSherpa dashboard select the Clients page, then find the name of the consumer you wish to assist. Select the consumer's name to open their Details page.

From the Details page, the 1095-A can be downloaded from the Marketplace notices section or the Enrollment history section.


Accessing 1095-A forms for clients enrolled outside of HealthSherpa

To access a 1095-A form for a client enrolled outside of HealthSherpa, agents must search the Marketplace for the consumer's application and claim it into the HealthSherpa dashboard to service.

Once claimed, the application will display a status of Terminated. This is expected because the enrollment is from a prior plan year.

Certification requirements

Oftentimes, agents can retrieve 1095-A forms only for plan years in which they were Marketplace certified. If Marketplace certification was not active for that plan year, the 1095-A form may not be accessible through HealthSherpa.

This year-of-certification access also typically applies when a state transitions from the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) to a State-based Marketplace (SBM).

For example:

  • An agent is FFM certified for plan year 2025 but was not FFM certified for plan year 2023.

  • The agent likely cannot retrieve a 1095-A form for plan year 2023 through HealthSherpa.

  • A client looking for a 1095-A form for plan year 2023 may need to contact the Marketplace directly.


Missing 1095-A forms

It is common for 1095-A forms to be released in batches by the Marketplace at the start of the year. Forms are often issued over several weeks.

HealthSherpa links 1095-A forms to client applications as soon as the Marketplace makes them available. This can result in some clients having a 1095-A form available while others do not.

If a 1095-A form is not available by the first week of March, contact the Marketplace responsible for that plan year to request the form.

Important reminder

1095-A forms are tied to the prior year’s coverage. Agents must contact the Marketplace that oversaw coverage for that year with questions.

For example:

  • A consumer has questions about 1095-A forms in the state of Georgia.

  • Georgia used the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) for plan year 2024.

  • Questions about 1095-A forms for plan year 2024 should be directed to the FFM.

  • Questions about 1095-A forms for plan year 2025 should be directed to Georgia's SBM, Georgia Access.
