On a client's profile page, agents are able to view the agent of record (AOR).

To locate the AOR, begin by selecting a client's name from the client dashboard. From there, agents are able to see the AOR per policy (ie, plan) along with other valuable fields such as the application assistor and the submitting agent.

Agent of Record (AOR)

The agent of record is associated with a policy and is found on the plan card.

The AOR is the agent a customer designates to represent them to the insurance company. The agent of record NPN is what carriers use to determine commissions.

HealthSherpa receives this value directly from CMS after syncing.

If there are multiple active policies (e.g., multiple enrollment groups of a health/dental policies), the AOR will show for each. While often they match, it's possible different agents could have been AOR throughout the year. To see more, click "View Plan History" to view how the AOR might have changed throughout the year.

Assistor

The assistor is associated with an application and is found on the application card.

The assistor is the professional helping the consumer, and is shown on hc.gov. This may or may not be the agent of record.

HealthSherpa receives this value directly from CMS after syncing.

While the assistor often matches the agent of record found on the policy, these values can differ. Typically the assistor matches the submitting agent or the NPN override.

The Assistor field can show the following:

  • First Initial Last Name (NPN: XXXXX): Displayed if the NPN is one that is associated with the agent’s account

  • HealthSherpa referral: Displayed if the enrollment was referred to HealthSherpa

  • Other party: Displayed if the NPN is one that’s not associated with the agent’s HealthSherpa account AND it was not a HealthSherpa referral for that agent

  • None: Displayed if CMS returns "None" upon a sync

Submitting Agent

The submitting agent is associated with the enrollment and is found on the application card. This value only shows to agents within a full or shared book.

The submitting agent is the agent who submitted the application on HealthSherpa, but perhaps did not submit their own NPN as agent of record.

The submitting agent often matches the Assistor unless an NPN override was used.

AOR and Assistor Values

The agent of record (AOR) and assistor fields can show the following:

  1. First and Last Name (NPN: XXXXX)

    1. Displayed if the NPN is one that is associated with the agent’s account

  2. HealthSherpa referral

    1. Displayed if the enrollment was referred to HealthSherpa by the agent

  3. First and Last Name (NPN: XXXXX)

    1. Displayed if the NPN is not associated with the agent's account

  4. HealthSherpa referral - submitted by First and Last Name (NPN: XXXXX)

    1. Displayed if the enrollment was referred to HealthSherpa by another agent; the other agent's name and NPN will be listed

  5. HealthSherpa

    1. Displayed when the consumer enrolled directly through HealthSherpa or was a referral in a prior plan year

  6. No AOR / Assistor

    1. Displayed with CMS returns "none" upon a sync, and there is no AOR or Assistor value associated with the policy or application, respectively
