When you look up an application on HealthCare.gov to view the status, there are 4 different plan statuses you may see.

Pending - Information has not been sent to the carrier yet. Typically, documents are required in order to activate the policy such as a proof of loss of coverage.

Initial Enrollment - This usually means that payment is still required in order to activate the policy, but documents have been approved.

Active - The first premium payment has been made and the policy is active. Please note, there still may be documents required. You can check this on HealthCare.gov under ‘Application Details’.

Cancelled - Plan was cancelled by either the agent, the client, or the carrier (if premium was not paid, for example)
