A deductible is the amount you pay for covered health care services before your insurance plan kicks in. 

Make sure to read through your plan details carefully. Here are some common terms explained:

  • “No charge after deductible” - This means you have to pay 100% for that specific service until the deductible has been met and then there is no charge.

  • “$25 copay after deductible - This means you have to pay 100% for that specific service until the deductible has been met. Once you’ve hit your deductible, you’re only responsible for the $25 copay.

  • “$25 copay” - This means you do not have to meet the deductible first, you are only responsible for the copay amount.
