Our Medicare Referrals service makes it easy for agents to refer Medicare leads to HealthSherpa and receive referral bonuses.

  • You don’t need to be appointed or licensed to sell Medicare in order to participate in the HealthSherpa Medicare Referrals Program.

  • Our team is led by Medicare industry experts. They’ve designed a needs analysis to guide clients to just the right plan.

  • Simply refer your clients to us and our team of trained Medicare sales agents will write the policy.

  • We won’t sell your leads any product besides Medicare.

If you’re an agent who isn’t certified to sell Medicare, this program can be a good place to direct your aging-in clients or other Medicare leads.

If you’re an agent who is certified to sell Medicare, but gets leads who want to enroll in states you aren’t licensed in, or with carriers you aren’t appointed with, you can direct those leads to this program.

AEP Program informaion and bonus amounts

Medicare Annual Enrollment (AEP)

Program Start

October 15, 2022

Start referring on

Oct 1 agents can start booking appointments with us.

Oct 15 we will start writing applications for clients referred.

Type of policies we can write

  • Change or update coverage for anyone enrolled in Medicare

  • Switch from Original Medicare, to Medicare Advantage or vice versa.

  • Switch from Medicare Advantage plan with drug coverage to one without or vice versa.

  • Join or drop a Medicare prescription drug plan.

  • Update coverage to a new plan from the current insurer or switching to a new insurer.

Referral fees

  • Medicare Advantage $100

  • Prescription Drug Plan D $25

  • MedSup $200

  • Ancillary Dental/ Vision $2

Referral fee payout

  • Enrollments made during SEP 2023 will be paid within 60 days of their effectuation date

  • Enrollments made during AEP 2024 season will be paid within 60 days after their January effectuation

  • Effectuation (binder payment) must be completed

How to get started

  1. Click on the Bonuses section, then the Medicare Referrals tab.

  2. Click on "View & agree to terms"

Step 2: Read and accept the terms

  1. A window pops up with the agreement. Scroll and read the agreement.

  2. Check the box to indicate you have read and accept the terms of the agreement

  3. Click “I accept” and wait for the screen to reload.

Step 3: We will generate your unique Medicare lead transfer phone number and display it on your screen. Make a note of this number.

  • You’ll also see the number anytime you login to your Agent portal and click on the Medicare Referrals tab.

Step 4: Start referring -- share your custom referral phone number with your Medicare clients and ask them to call that number.

Step 5: When a client calls, a HealthSherpa agent will perform a detailed needs analysis and enroll your client in the most suitable policy

  • Once the client enrolls, HealthSherpa becomes the Agent of Record and handles all post-enrollment follow ups for that client.

  • HealthSherpa will pay you for each referral within 60 days of effectuation.

FAQ

How do I see which of my clients are eligible for Medicare?

Log into HealthSherpa for Agents and click the "Bonuses" section. There's a box showing you how many of your clients are near their 65th birthday and therefore close to or eligible for Medicare. This list goes beyond just the primary applicant and may include family members who are aging into Medicare.

What type of Medicare programs will HealthSherpa write and what is the referral bonus?

We will pay the regulated Medicare referral fees for the following programs:

  • Medicare Advantage - $100

  • Medicare Supplement (MedSup) - $200

  • Medicare Prescription Part D - $25

  • Ancillary Dental/ Vision - $25

How can I track what I have earned from Medicare Referrals?

You can track Medicare Referral dollars earned via bill.com invoices just as you do with QHP referrals. The main difference is that the Medicare Referrals will not populate into your bonus tab like the QHP referrals do.

Can I give my customer my unique phone number so they can call in on their own?

Yes, please give your Medicare clients your custom referral phone number to call us - we will service your client. You do not have to be on the call with your client.

If I refer Medicare clients to HealthSherpa, and then I get contracted the following year with that carrier, can I obtain consent and take the client back?

Yes. We will service your clients only for as long as you’d like us to. When you get licensed, appointed, you can have your clients back.

Why am I being prompted to complete a W9 during Medicare Referral setup?

We need your W9 to process payment. Our system prompts you for it after your first referral is complete. If you have already completed a W9 for the year, we will not ask for it again until Jan 1 of the next year.

Are there any training sessions to learn more about this program?

We do not currently have training available.
